Amber’s Way

Author and survivor, Gloria Galloway, shares a beautiful story of a family surviving one struggle after another, which tightens their bond and strengthens their resolve.

Jessica Langston is a widow; her husband was killed in the Iraq War prior to her giving birth to their daughter, Amber. As she struggles to cope with her heartbreak, Amber is diagnosed with cancer at the age of four. Jessica resolves to do whatever it takes to give her daughter the best life, and she moves them to an idyllic town nestled beside the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

This book is both touching and tragic.

Without spoiling the ending for readers, I will share that there are wins and losses, love and heartbreaks expertly woven throughout the story. This reader fought tears as I befriended the characters and rooted for Amber’s survival. Despite all that befalls Jessica and Amber, it’s inspiring to see how they push on and upward to embrace life. The heavy cloud of a terminal diagnosis is impossible to escape, but Amber’s Way brings a fresh perspective as the family of two cling to hope and open their hearts and home to new friends, and an orphaned deer, that make up their community.

But I’ll end with a kudos to Gloria for sharing such a beautiful story!
