Jubilee Jumps for Joy

This children’s picture book, written by Brenton Jackson and illustrated by Alex Aldrich Barrett, makes me want to jump into this world and celebrate with little Jubilee.

The darling character, Jubilee—which means happiness—is not feeling the joy she used to. Sunday morning praise breaks have lost some of their luster since her beloved grandmother has passed. As Jubilee sets out to find a way to bring her spirit to church, she soon realizes the effort is futile. Then she remembers Grandma’s bible. A familiar verse elicits joyful memories that ultimately renew Jubilee’s joy, courage, and faith.

Love, love, love this book. No matter your age—or beliefs—this book makes you smile. And for those who have loved and lost, it reminds you to cherish and celebrate the power of family and faith.
