Some Like It Plaid

Heres a fun time-travel romance peppered with plenty of Celtic magic. Ashley is a modern-day heroine whos good-for-nothing, scamming ex-husband leaves her working two jobs to pay off debts. When she runs across a classified ad including an all-expenses-paid trip to Scotland, it sounds too good to be true. Cooking, cleaning, and general home duties dont seem difficult, especially, if it gives her the opportunity to get out of this city.

But the interview with her potential new boss, a handsome Highlander Conall, left Ashley too distracted to absorb the fine print.

Conall isnt looking for a housekeeper, but rather a wife. Caught up in her momentary bliss, Ashley accepts and is instantly whisked back to Scotland during the Roman Imperial Era. Once there, Ashley has forty nights until a druid priest can once again wield his magic to get her back home. But Conall is determined to make Ashley see that life in Scotland, with him, is far more desirable than all shes left behind.

As I said before this is a fun romantic read and its clear this award-winning, bestselling author, Angela Quarles, has mastered her research. The historical bits are well-done, and the characters are likable. Theres a couple of shifts in the tone that catch the reader off guard, including Ashleys sudden affinity for cursing when she reaches Scotland. But thats not a big deal. Theres more to love here including the imaginative magical component. The author found a unique way to answer the transition of contemporary clothing and accoutrements, such as turning her laptop into her own personal divining rod. Its clever and inviting and lovers of time-travel romance should grab a copy and continue to follow Quarles on her author journey.
