USA Today bestselling author Sarah M. Eden brings to life her latest adventure of two souls destined to meet across time.
In 1793, young Lili Minet had built a reputation for courage in Paris for saving dozens from Madame Guillotine. But Robespierre’s Tribunal is on her heels, so she flees France on a ship that capsizes in a storm. A tidal time bridge brings her to England in 1873, where lightkeeper Armitage Pierce rescues her. Although he unwillingly provides shelter, Armitage, like Lili, is reticent about trusting. As days turn into weeks, their relationship evolves into a friendship, and eventually, love. Then, amidst a storm, the Tides of Time bring Lili’s past to the present. Someone who’s haunted her dreams and is determined to take Lili back to France to answer Robespierre’s charges and face a deadly fate.
This was an enjoyable read with a captivating setting.
The characters are endearing, and the plot is unique. It took me a bit to follow the staccato dialogue when the French language blended with the Old English dialect, which at times took me out of the story. However, once I got into the flow, I was hooked. It’s one of those transportive books that skillfully tackles politics and the human psyche, sprinkling in the perfect amount of intrigue and romance.
