The Iberian Table: Healthy Cooking Secrets from the Land of Longevity

The Iberian Table: Healthy Cooking Secrets from the Land of Longevity

Behold, Robin Keunkes book is one of the most intriguing cookbooks Ive ever read. Not that Ive read many cookbooks. Because you dont really read cookbooks—mostly, you reference them. Not The Iberian Table. This book contains recipes, interviews, history, tales, travel tips, health and medical insights, and the most significant resource guide.

The Iberian Table starts with Robins inspiration for writing and her culinary adventure in Spain.

Her journey accounts are packed with humor and cultural honor, but an educational tidbit and a recipe are tucked alongside them. I especially love her guidance on the nutritional aspects of ingredients and her well-researched insight into each ingredient used in this Mediterranean diet. No wonder this culture has such a long and happy life span, second only to Japan!

Robin channels her diverse background in the health industry into this homage to Spain. She is a natural foods chef, former food editor for Total Health Magazine, and author of Total Breast Health: Power Foods for Prevention and Wellness and co-author of The Detox Revolution: A Powerful Program for Boosting Your Bodys Ability to Fight Cancer and Other Diseases. A resume worthy of rubbing elbows with Michelin Star chefs—which she does. But this isnt a high-brow collection of intimidating dishes; rather, it is an engrossing read peppered with approachable recipes. I plan to try some this week.

As a vegan, I can hardly do this book justice because of its wealth of information and entertainment. However, if you love to cook or at least love to eat delicious meals and value your health, this book is a must-buy.
