Pretty Revenge

Pretty Revenge

If you’re looking for a sassy, sexy, sophisticated, smart and suspense-filled book that will keep you guessing to the very end, Pretty Revenge by Emily Liebert is just the fix you need.

Kerrie is hell-bent on getting revenge on the woman who destroyed her life. When she suddenly recognizes her as the glamorous wedding planner to the stars—Jordana Pierson—she drops everything, including her lackluster boyfriend, and leaves for New York. Using the money she has left from her inheritance to transform herself into a barely recognizable, but incredibly better version of herself, she applies and wins the job as Jordana’s assistant. Both women are full-in a cat and mouse game, believing they have the leg up on the other, positioning themselves to use whatever means necessary to win at their game.

With access to everything in Jordana’s empire, Kerrie starts plotting her new boss’s business demise. Then something very strange happens. She begins to form meaningful relationships in her new city. And horror of horrors, she actually loves her job and is excelling in her work. But she never forgets her ultimate goal, despite the fact that she begins to understand and empathize with Jordana, who is also living a lie. The two women have connected dark pasts but don’t realize how much they have in common. They are alone in the world, two lost and hurting souls who are struggling to find their way forward.

This is a book I love mostly because I didn’t see what was coming in the next chapter. I love surprises and this book is filled with them. Then there is the double character arc. Imagine wanting to entirely re-invent yourself, but never being able to escape your past. This is the tale of two ladies who are doing just that while fighting to stay afloat emotionally, professionally and financially. Both women seem so shallow and bitter at first, but as you get to know them, you are drawn into their lives and their webs. Great storytelling from a best-selling author.
