If I were truly referring to the English good luck rhyme I would use “Olde” and include something borrowed and something blue. But, I’m not.
Rather, I’m referring to the books I’ve been reviewing as of late. I see way too many book reviews on new books, which is great. Sometimes I like getting a feel for what other readers think before I delve into a story. And yes, you’ll find some new book reviews on my site.
Still, you may have noticed that many of these “Books I Love” have been around for a while and are tried and true reads you simply can’t put down. That’s one of the reasons that I love them. Also, I like to grab the first of an author’s works or highlight the original in a series because I think these are incredibly special books.
These debut books, while some may consider old, are actually new. They are the books that launched an author and also hold a special place in their hearts—and I guess, mine.
I hope you enjoy these books as much as I do. I would love to have the opportunity to review your book too. Remember, just because your book is a few years old (or older) doesn’t mean it isn’t relevant. In fact, you were inspired to write it for a very important reason. That reason, and that inspiration, will be here to positively impact current and future generations.
What a gift to the world your writing is.
Books are a gift. You’re so right about that. The authors who hooked me with their first book hold a special place in my heart. It’s always so exciting when they publish a new story, but then I have to go back to those first ones, always. Sometimes I wish I could read them as if I hadn’t ever done so before and get some of that magic back!
The Real Person!
I agree, Kara. I often return to my favorites and don’t always feel the same “novel” experience. But I experience a completely new set of emotions surrounding the read. Funny, huh? Books have the ability to bring something new to us each time we read them. Talk about magic!
