Author Insights: Expert Advice For Achieving Financial Bliss

This is a topic that will hit home for so many people. Achieving a point in your life when you feel you have a solid financial foundation reduces stress, increases security and opens the door to a realm of possibilities. It’s not all about money. After all, money doesn’t buy you happiness, right? But understanding how to thoughtfully manage your money and save for the unexpected is critical.

Author and multi-entrepreneur, Renwick Brutus has dedicated his life to helping people become irresistible and financially invincible. And he has come to this mission honestly.

“Neither of my parents were able to complete high school,” says Renwick. “My mom’s dad didn’t think girls needed to be educated; my dad lost both his parents by age eleven and thus started working at the age of sixteen.” But his parent’s wisdom lived in the value of education and saw learning as a “game changer” that would provide a pathway for their children that would break through boundaries and onto any life they could ever imagine.

“I was programmed to recognize that being born black in a prejudiced world that closed doors on black folk, I needed to be educated to open doors even when they were locked tight to keep me out,” says Renwick. “For me, there was no reason, absolutely no reason to quit on pursuing a successful life.”

Renwick started his journey in Guyana, South America, one of the poorest countries in the world, coming to the U.S. with only $200 dollars in his pocket and has become a millionaire and owner of three companies, including a wealth management firm.

A graduate of Fordham University and a former Wallstreet executive, Renwick turned his passion for helping his client’s build wealth into a lifetime pursuit of helping people become financially free.

“I have studied success; the attitudes, philosophy and behaviors of financially successful people,” he says.

“I have studied financial planning, budgeting, saving, investing and risk management and have helped myself, and many others, achieve goals of becoming financially successful and secure.”

According to Renwick, financial bliss is defined as achieving a healthy relationship with money so that it’s kept in a place of serving you, rather than being served by you. “That means that it’s imperative that we find joy and peace through our relationship with experiences, ideas, thoughts, people and ourselves, in ways that do not require money,” he explains. “Then, our approach to expressing ourselves allows for lots of money to be earned, for that money to be treated with respect, and for that money to be cared for and invested for meaningful and noble purposes. Such relationships provide for the calm, serene sense of knowing that all is well.”

But financial bliss isn’t achieved overnight. It takes work, introspection and support.

Having a thoughtful guide for managing money is imperative, but also someone who can help you break-free from the anxiety, uncertainty and self-imposed limitations that come with money management is critical. Through his one-on-one coaching with clients he not only helps them design and launch a personal plan for financial bliss, but one that capitalizes on their “irresistibility” so that they can achieve their personal, professional and financial dreams.

It’s also important to self-educate which he believes moves someone from dependency to independence and personal freedom. Renwick recommends four success books to start with including Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley, Ph.D. and William D. Danko, Ph.D., Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki and The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason. Renwick’s own book entitled, Being Irresistible: 21 Essential Disciplines for Getting More of The Life You Want, will be released in 2021.

He truly believes that you are in control of your destiny, but it is also up to you to take the first step.

“Those who want to be free, to control their destiny, to live life according to their values and priorities should always self-educate and continue to read books that support their goals,” reminds Renwick. “Those who want to retain their uniqueness and individuality and live in ways that are congruent with what provides them with the greatest sense of well-being and fulfillment.”
